Multilevel (CEFR): the national exam that equals IELTS at DTM — and costs far less
Not everyone who needs a language certificate needs IELTS. For university admission inside Uzbekistan, the national Multilevel exam — run by UZBMB and built on the CEFR scale — carries exactly the same legal power at DTM: a valid B2 certificate earns the maximum foreign-language score (93.0 as first subject, 63.0 as second), identical to IELTS 5.5+. And it costs a fraction of the international exam.
Which one should you take?
- Staying in Uzbekistan (DTM, local universities, many jobs): Multilevel B2 does the job at a much lower price.
- Applying abroad (scholarships, foreign universities): they want IELTS or TOEFL — Multilevel is not accepted outside the country.
- Both paths open? Take Multilevel now for DTM, keep preparing, take IELTS when your target scholarship's window approaches.
Confused about how the scales line up? We built a free converter: IELTS ↔ CEFR ↔ Multilevel ↔ TOEFL — including what each level earns at DTM.
