The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) — the Korean government's flagship full ride — runs on a fixed annual clock: the undergraduate cycle for 2027 entry opens its embassy track around September 2026 and its university track around October 2026, with results in January and arrival in Korea in late February 2027.

- One free year of intensive Korean language before the degree

Embassy track vs university track — pick one
You can apply through one track only per cycle. The embassy track (via the Korean Embassy in Tashkent) lets you list several universities and generally has more country slots for Uzbekistan; the university track means applying directly to one partner university. Since 2026 everything is submitted digitally through the Study in Korea portal — no more paper packages.
Where English fits
GKS does not hard-require IELTS — but a solid English certificate is one of the few concrete ways to stand out in the document round, and several partner universities award bonus points for it. If you're preparing over the summer, an IELTS taken by August lands in time for the September window.
